We’re a social bunch here in the East Midlands and like to get together every month. While we generally meet in the evening on the first Wednesday of the month in a different city across our region, we’ve moved some of our meetings online for now given the need for social distancing amid the wider COVID-19 pandemic. Dates and topics for discussion are shared with EMRG members via the Google Group in advance.

Continuing Professional Development
CPD involves refining and expanding your skills and subject knowledge, as well as keeping up to date with commercial and linguistic developments, learning new technologies and contributing to our profession. The ITI recommends that all its members undertake 30 hours of CPD in each membership year, and as such the EMRG strives to organise two workshops a year to help local ITI members achieve this CPD goal.
Our next event will be our Walk and Picnic meet-up on 9th July 2022. Please check your email or contact our Coordinator for more information.
Our most recent CPD event was an online webinar held on Saturday 30th April 2022. Hosted by Lone Beheshty, an experienced CAT tools specialist and trainer, this event provided attendees with a deeper insight into using CAT tools in translation. The event was well attended and we hope to run an “in-person” CPD event at some point in the not-too-distant future.
We also organised another CPD event on Saturday 21st September 2019, where local East Midlands accountancy firm Bulley Davey were on hand to guide us through all things financial. It was a very useful workshop and our speaker Mandy was incredibly generous with her time and advice. We’ll be publishing a more detailed write-up in due course.
